Unemployment increased to 6.9 percent in May, the Missouri Department of Economic Development reported.

Unemployment in Texas County rose seven-tenths of a percentage point in May from the previous month, reports the Missouri Department of Economic Development.

The figure was 6.9 percent.

According to the report, the civilian labor force was 11,604, and the jobless count was 795.

Other counties and their unemployment rates: Douglas, 6.4; Howell, 6.6; Shannon, 9.4; and Wright, 6.4.

The average in south-central Missouri was 7 percent.
