Rapture Ruckus, seen in this image during a stop on their current tour, will perform Sunday, June 23, in Houston.

One of the rising bands in Christian music known for its blend of rock and hip-hop as well as electric live shows is returning tonight to Houston.

Rapture Ruckus will perform at 6 p.m inside Hiett Gymnasium. Doors open at 5 p.m. The event is hosted by the cross-denominational ministry Undivided Hearts.

Organizers said tickets will be available to purchase when the doors open. They are $12 apiece.

The band was part of the Stay Close Tour in February 2013 that performed with Fireflight. They will be performing this time as the main artists.

“It was a consensus after the first concert that Rapture Ruckus stole the show,” UH leader Jeff McNiell said. “Their energy, special effects and music had everyone buzzing. Most people didn’t know who Rapture Ruckus was before they came, but they were all fans when they left.

“When we had the opportunity to bring the guys back to Houston, it was a no-brainer. Especially to have them as the headliner and allow them to present a full hour-plus set as opposed to a 30-minute appearance.”

From New Zealand, Rapture Ruckus released three albums in their home country before signing with BEC Recordings and producing a self-named CD in America.

The group’s current single, “In Crowd,” is about standing up for the outcasts, the bullied and anyone who has ever felt like they don’t fit in. The band says it’s about celebrating the different –– and occasionally humorous –– things that make us different.

“This song is about celebrating our diversity,” lead singer Brad Dring said. “God made us all different, and we all have a unique quality that no one else has. Everywhere you look, there is something that tells you how you need to look, what you need to wear, how you need to act or what the perfect person looks like. God didn’t make you to fit in with the crowd. He made you to stand out.”
