A Houston man is charged with illegally burning following a fire that destroyed a nearby garage, Houston police said.
Rodney E. Bowden, 40, of 902 Bryan St. in Houston, was issued a citation for unlawful disposal of solid waste – knowingly burning – at 8:30 p.m. July 25.
Bowden was cited after an officer observed a camper trailer engulfed in flames in his backyard, which had caused the garage at the neighboring property to catch fire. The officer reported that several neighbors and tenants of 902 Byran told him that Bowden and another man had been scrapping the trailer and burning trash from it in the backyard. Bowden reported admitted burning trash, but claimed someone else had set the trailer on fire.
