MARION DIEDRICH

Marion Elizabeth Diedrich, 85, passed away July 13, 2013, at Parkside Assisted Living in Rolla, Mo.

She was born Dec. 24, 1927, in Des Moines, Iowa, to William Francis and Gertrude (Sooter) Carter. After the death of her father, the family moved to Houston, Mo., when Marion was a young child.

On May 19, 1945, Marion was united in marriage to Wilmer Diedrich and to this union two daughters were born.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Marion is survived by her husband of 68 years, Wilmer, of their home at Parkside; two daughters, Kay Hudson and her husband, Orson, of Cape Fair, Mo., and Kathy Brown and her husband, Dan, of Rolla, Mo.; four grandchildren, Angela Wilbanks and husband, Brian, of Rogersville, Mo., Danette Sherrell and husband, Brad, of Rolla, Mo., Justin Brown and wife, Laura, of Rolla, Mo., Matthew Hudson and wife, Pamela, of Springfield, Mo.; eight great-grandchildren: Brittney Wilbanks, Corey Wilbanks, Caleb Wilbanks, Tristin Brown, Brody Brown, Kennedy Brown, Maya Sherrell and Rio Sherrell; and several nieces, nephews, family and many friends made through the years.

Marion loved to travel and be on the go. Most of all she loved her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

After Wilmer retired, they moved to Rolla, where they met many good friends at First Baptist Church. They loved to go on the church senior trips. Two-and-a-half years ago, Wilmer and Marion moved to Parkside Assisted Living. At Parkside they became part of a big extended family. Marion loved to play Wheel of Fortune and Bingo at Parkside where she was often the proud recipient of the traveling Bingo Trophy.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services were Tuesday, July 23, at Evans Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Johnston officiating. Burial was in Pine Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Justin Brown, Matthew Hudson, Brian Wilbanks, Brad Sherrell, Corey Wilbanks, Caleb Wilbanks, Tristin Brown and Brody Brown.
