BETTY OVERBY-DAVIS

Betty Gladden Overby-Davis, 91 of Cabool, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Kabul Nursing Home.

She was born May 18, 1922, in Elk Creek, daughter of Alfred and Anna Gladden. She and Tom Overby were married Dec. 30, 1945. He died April 5, 1976. She and Gene Davis were married in September 1997 in Cabool.

She lived her entire life in Texas County. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and worked for the US Postal Service for 31 years. She was a lifetime member of the WSCS in the St. Louis Conference. She was a member of the Cabool United Methodist Church for 82 years; she sang in the church choir for 30 years and played the piano for Sunday night service for 28 years. She also played for neighborhood church revivals and nursing home activities.

She and her second husband, Gene, enjoyed trips to Branson and square dancing.

Survivors include her husband, Gene, of Cabool; two stepsons, Alan Davis of Republic and Dowell Davis of Cabool; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and many other family members.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at Cabool United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Moger and Dr. Mike Lawton officiating. Burial will be in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home.
