Mildred Bernice (Manley) McCarry, 92, of Houston, Mo., passed quietly into the arms of Our Lord on Aug. 9, 2013, at Texas County Memorial Hospital following a stroke.
She was born in Iowa on Aug. 22, 1920, to John and Elma (McKinney) Manley. Her family moved to Texas County when she was a young girl. She was joined in marriage to John Frederick McCarry, Jr. on Aug. 22, 1959.
Mildred enjoyed gardening, needlepoint and quilting but most certainly enjoyed, more than anything, spending time with her family. One of her favorite things later in life was watching wrestling with her daughter Delores (Dee).
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John McCarry; one son, Billy Lea; two brothers, Jewel and Delmar Manley; one sister, Pearl Hinkle; one granddaughter, Kimberly Lea Caswell; and one great-grandson, Adam McNeely.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Garrett and Delores (Dee) Scott of Houston, Mo.; five grandchildren, Tammy Marler of Butler, Ind., Kelly Hutsell-Hill and husband Jack, of Eldon, Mo., Mary Bochantin of St. Louis, Mo., Karla Bell-Odom and husband, Dustin, of Houston, Mo., and Stacy Roland of Butler, Ind.; 15 great-grandchildren; and 22 great great-grandchildren.
Mildred will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, in Emery Cemetery with Dr. Terry Snelling officiating. Pallbearers were Jack Hill, Harold Cain, Dustin Odom, Andrew Chapman, Maurice Amburn and Christopher Hill. Services are under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
