The Gasconade River takes over U.S. 63 in Maries County.

Texas County can expect more rain through Saturday, the National Weather Service says.

Rain is currently falling in central Missouri. An additional 3-5 inches are expected. MoDOT is carefully watching the situation.

Floodwaters forced MoDOT to close U.S. 50 to close at Mt. Sterling in Gasconade County late this morning. Barriers are now set and signs guide travelers through the detour route – U.S. 54 to I-70 to Route 19.

The National Weather Service hydrographs indicate the river levels continue to decrease near Interstate 44. However, given the nature of the current storms, MoDOT cannot say with confidence that I-44 will remain open.

Motorists should check the MoDOT Traveler Information Map at www.modot.org, download the free Traveler Information Map App through a smart device marketplace or call MoDOT Customer Service at 1-888-275-6636 for up-to-date flood closure information.

Should Interstate 44 close again, drivers should leave the highway at the next practical exit.
