Don Elliott is the new minister at First Christian Church in Houston.

He has held long-term ministries in Dewey, Okla., and Independence, Kan. He served as a children’s ministry intern in Tyro, Kan., and has held ministries in Wichita, Kan.; Shidler, Okla.; Winona and Toronto, Kan. He comes with 35 years of experience. He has served as hospital chaplain and served on the boards of Hidden Haven Christian Camp, Midwest Crisis Pregnancy Center, Kansas Christian Convention and the Independence Food Basket.

Elliott was raised in Wichita. He met and married his wife, Cheri, at the Countryside Christian Church in Wichita in 1978. He graduated in 1979 from Ozark Christian College in Joplin.

She will be teaching at the Raymondville School. He and his wife have two adult children, David of Dewey, Okla. and Susanne of Joplin.
