The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a fatality occurred early Saturday west of Licking. It was the fourth fatality in the county in the last week. Sixteen have been recorded this year in the nine-county region of Troop G.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol made 17 arrests and issued 13 warnings during a DWI saturation Aug. 16 at U.S. 60 and 63 in Texas County.

Among the arrests were one felony and one misdemeanor DWI arrest. Also at the checkpoint, the patrol made the following summons:

  • One careless and imprudent driving.
  • Four speed.
  • Two seat belt.
  • One failure to yield.
  • One hazardous moving.
  • Three non-moving.
  • Two driving while suspended/revoked.

“DWI saturations are one tool that the Missouri State Highway Patrol uses in order to make our roadways a safer place for Missouri’s motorists,” said Capt. Dwayne F. Isringhausen. “Please be careful when behind the wheel and never drink and drive.”
