Monthly sales tax revenue in Houston increased more than 2 percent from the same period a year ago, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.
The tally from a one-cent sales tax was $45,815, which was up $984 from the same period a year ago. For the first seven months of the year, $372,298 has been collected.
Retailers also collect two, quarter-cent sales tax for streets, sidewalks and utilities. Both contributed about $11,214, which was up about 2.8 percent from last year.
An eighth-cent sales tax earmarked for fire truck debt repayment totaled $5,607.Â
