A fundraiser to benefit Houston High School was announced by a local business, Romines Motor Co. Inc.

Romines Motor Co. in Houston will host its third annual Drive 4 UR School fundraiser from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5.

Each year, Ford and Lincoln dealerships team up with local high schools to conduct test-drive fundraising events, and for every valid test drive completed, Ford Motor Co. donates $20 to the participating high school.

Since Ford introduced Drive 4 UR School in 2007, more than 3,000 events have taken places and in excess of $12 million has been donated to high schools. Last year, 240 test drives were recorded at Romines, and the combined total raised for Houston High School during the first two events is $10,320. The goal this year is to reach the 300 test-drive level, with funds raised going toward a security system.

Romines officials indicate participants can be assured of not finding themselves in a high-pressure situation. Pre-registration will be available Friday night during the HHS homecoming football game against Ava.
