Arthur Bennett Haney, 85, son of Arthur and Stella (Castor) Haney, was born Dec. 9, 1927, in Eldorado, Kan. He died Sept. 27, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
He graduated from Houston High School in 1946 and served in the Army for two years.
He married Bonnie Adkison on March 18, 1951, and they shared 62 wonderful years together.
Bennett and Bonnie moved to the St. Louis area in 1963, and he worked for McDonald Douglas. Bennett retired from the United States Postal Service in Chesterfield, Mo., in 1989. He and Bonnie returned to Houston and built their retirement home.
Bennett and Bonnie attended Houston First Christian Church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kermit Haney.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of the home in Houston, Mo.; a nephew, Rob Haney and wife, Sandra; a niece, Jeri Baker and husband, Marty, all of Houston, Mo.; a nephew, Dewayne Green and wife, Sharon, of Waynesville, Mo.; and several great-nephews and nieces.
Bennett enjoyed working on the computer researching family history; he loved sharing his genealogy finds with his family. Bennett loved his dogs and they loved him just as much!
Bennett is now enjoying the beauty of heaven, reunited with his loved ones that went on before him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services were 2 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 1, 2013, at Evans Funeral Home with Don Elliott and Dan Peterka officiating. Pallbearers were Chad Haney, Dough Smith, Caleb Baker, Don Odle, Josh Paulson and Mike Green. Burial was in Pine Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
