As part of annual Hunger Action Month, the FAITH Riders, Christian Motorcycle Association and Dogs off the Leash teamed up last Saturday to help sponsor the Bikers Against Hunger Food Drive at the Houston Walmart.

All of the donated non-perishable food items went to the Texas County Food Pantry for distribution to needy people around the county.

Food Pantry director Bennie Cook said the successful drive netted a lot of food and a good deal of cash.

“This annual food drive is a blessing,” said Food Pantry director Bennie Cook. “I would like to thank (everyone involved) for a great food drive. I would also like to thank everyone for their donations of non-perishable food items and the monetary donations.

“We filled up the back of the food pantry truck and we raised $341.21.”

This week, the Houston Sorosis Club will sponsor food drives at Walmart Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
