Earl Raymond Schweighauser, 73, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, NHC Health Care in West Plains.

He was born Jan. 11, 1940, in Summersville, son of Samuel Franklin and Rachel Leah Younger Schweighauser. He married Helen Robinson.

He spent his younger years in the Summersville area, where he enjoyed the outdoors. He worked in the timber and hayfields. He also enjoyed hunting and dealing in cars.

He later moved to Genoa, Ill., where he was employed for many years at a steel plant. During his retirement, he ran a detail shop with a friend.

He served 26 years as the custodian at the First Baptist Church in Genoa, Ill. He was a faithful follower of Jesus.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Merle and Harold Schweighauser.

Survivors include three children, Scott of Roscoe, Ill., Kyle of Eugene, Ore., and Rita of Sycamore, Ill.; five grandchildren; three sisters, Lillie Summers of Mountain View, Dorothy Walberg of Summersville and Virginia Broyles of Jonesboro, Tenn.; a brother, Arvel Schweighauser of Summersville; and many other family members and friends.

Services were Saturday, Aug. 31, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dean Goldsmith, the Rev. Arvel Schweighauser, the Rev. David Jett and the Rev. Eddie Hathcoat officiating. Burial was in Flatwoods Cemetery.
