The Texas County Office of Emergency Management said the state’s request for an individual assistance federal disaster declaration for the August flooding event has been denied by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

County emergency management director Bennie Cook said Gov. Jay Nixon’s office is considering submitting an appeal.

On Tuesday morning, several township officials, city officials and county officials met with members of FEMA and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to discuss the public assistance federal disaster declaration for Texas County. This will start the recovery process for the damaged county roads in Texas County.
