The Houston High School softball team snapped a two-game losing skid by winning their first South Central Association game of the season.
Lizzy Swindell and Emily Harrison knocked in two runs apiece Tuesday afternoon to lead HHS past Liberty 9-4 on the road.
The Lady Tigers (2-2, 1-0 SCA) got back on the winning track after losing both their games Saturday in the Houston Invitational. They were defeated 8-1 by eventual champion Mansfield and lost 7-6 to Bakersfield in the third-place game.
Harrison struck out three and walked four in her second victory. She gave up 11 hits and four runs – three earned.
Kaylea Preheim had three of Houston’s seven hits. Swindell and Tommy Franklin each scored twice.
HHS scored in each of the first five innings en route to a 9-2 advantage. All but two of the baserunners who scored reached via walks.
