A fish fry and raffle are planned Sunday, Oct. 6, in Houston by the Houston Lions Club.

The Houston Lions Club will host its 22nd annual fish fry on Sunday at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds beginning at 11 a.m. and lasting until 2 p.m.

The meal includes fried fish, french fries, beans, coleslaw, dessert and drink. Tickets may be purchased at any Lions Club member or at Romines Motor Co., Community Bank or Landmark Bank.

This is the Lions Club largest fundraiser, and proceeds are used to purchase eyeglasses for the needy and support Lions Club charities such as Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation, Leader Dogs for the Blind and Lions Club International Foundation.

The club will also offer a fish-frying cooker at raffle. The equipment also includes 15 pounds of fish, a gas bottle, cooking oil and spices. Tickets are limited to 500 tickets at $5 each or three for $10.

The Lions will also be collecting at the door old eyeglasses to be distributed to Third World countries by Lions Club International.
