Houston junior Lizzy Swindell was named to the Class 2 District 3 team.

Junior Lizzy Swindell’s record performance led the Houston softball team to their second conference victory.

Swindell knocked in a school-record eight runs to lead the Lady Tigers’ 24-10 romp Monday afternoon of Cabool.

Houston (6-7, 2-1 South Central Association) tied the team mark for runs in a single game since the program began official games in the fall of 2009. HHS also scored 24 times in a season-opening victory Aug. 29 against Stoutland.

Swindell, who had a team-best 13 RBIs entering the game, started her record day with a two-run single in the first inning. She had a sacrifice fly in the second and RBI groundout in the fourth, followed by a two-run double in the sixth and another two-run single in the seventh. She finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored.

That wasn’t the only big offensive performance for the Lady Tigers. Hailey Dodson knocked in four runs and Tommi Franklin had three RBIs. Taylor Franklin scored five times and stole four bases. Emily Harrison scored four times.

The Lady Tigers blew open a two-run game by scoring 16 times in the final two innings. Dodson and Swindell each had two-run doubles in the seven-run sixth inning. Tommi Franklin had a two-run single in the frame.

Dodson and Swindell both had two-run singles in the nine-run seventh. Harrison also had a run-scoring single.
