Ada Reatha Stilley Herndon, 76, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, in Houston.
She was born June 2, 1937, in Plato, daughter of Charles Harrison and Ada Estella Mings Stilley. She and Lewis Herndon were married Sept. 28, 1974. He died in January 1995.
She grew up in the Upton community. She graduated from Houston High School in 1958. She attended Peace Chapel Church for many years when living in the Upton area.
She and her husband, Lewis, made their home in Poplarville, Miss. Following his death, she eventually returned to Houston in 2002.
While living in Mississippi, she loved to go to auctions with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Alma Westfall and Lucille Pounds; and six brothers, Esther, Vaughan, Lealand, Aubrey, Lyle and Melvin.
Survivors include a brother, Marshall Stilley of Dysart, Iowa; and many other family members.
Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 27, at Evans Funeral Home. Burial was Monday, Oct. 28, in Oak Hill Cemetery in Poplarville, Miss., under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
