A proposed expanded library for the Cabool branch of the Texas County Library.

The Texas County Library Foundation plans to launch a fundraising effort to construct an expanded library branch at Cabool.

Integrity Engineering of Rolla, the foundation’s architectural firm, recently unveiled an exterior rendering that would double the size of the floor space and give a facelift to the building, which was built in 1986 and is situated at Main and Walnut streets. Jonathan Garrett of the firm estimated the cost at $439,792.

The foundation will seek a Community Development Building Grant to finance as much as $250,000. A similar mechanism was used for a new library at Summersville that was completed earlier this year.

At the meeting, fundraising efforts by a local group, Cabool Friends of the Library, also was highlighted. The group also is seeking guidance from its grant consultant on the potential for in-kind contributions.

Members of the Texas County Library Foundation board include Kent Williamson, Cabool; Janet Fraley, Houston; Sally Smith, Houston; Terry Jones, Cabool; Joni Appleton, Summersville; Brad Gentry, Houston; Peggy Holder, Houston; Florence Cartwright, Cabool; Linda Roberts, Licking; Gwen Ross, Eunice; and Audrey Barnhart, Houston.
