Military veteran

Brett Lee Squires, 50, of Huntingtown, Md., died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013.

He was born in Madison, Wisc., son of Sheridan “Butch” and Regina Squires.

He was raised in Raymondville and graduated in 1981 from Houston High School.

After graduation, he joined the Air Force and served six years in active duty. He retired after 24 years as a master sergeant in the reserves. He was a 15-year veteran of the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C.

He loved hunting and was a semi-pro bronc rider. He was a member of the Iron Brotherhood Motorcycle Club, where he served as “road captain.”

Survivors include his wife, Bernice; a daughter, Jaynee Somer Poulson; his mother, Regina Squires of Rolla; and two siblings, Brenda Wilson and Bart Squires.

Services were Oct. 26 at Lee Funeral Home in Owings, Md.
