Senior Taylor Franklin had three hits in the Houston softball team’s 8-5 loss Wednesday afternoon to Newburg.
The game, which was originally scheduled to be played Friday, was moved forward two days due to the HHS homecoming.
The Lady Tigers (8-9) face Willow Springs at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the final regular-season home game for six seniors. The game is also a Pink Out.
With the game tied 1-1, HHS took the lead with a pair of runs in the fourth inning. Taylor Franklin and Swindell had consecutive singles to lead off the frame and eventually scored to make it 3-1.
But Newburg answered with three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings and led the rest of the way.
Senior Hailey Dodson had two hits for the Lady Tigers. Tommi Franklin had two of the team’s five stolen bases. Taylor Franklin scored twice.
On Tuesday, Swindell and Taylor Franklin had three hits apiece in Houston’s 9-1 victory at Thayer.
Swindell was 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Taylor Franklin and Autumn Walker scored three runs apiece.
Emily Harrison allowed five hits in a complete-game victory. She allowed a single run in the fifth inning.
