A regional orchestra will host a Halloween musical, it was announced this week.

A regional group of musicians is hosting a Halloween musical this month.

The Southern Ozarks Community Orchestra will present “Spooktacula Music” in cooperation with Landmark Bank and the Star Dramatic Co. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the historic Star Theater in Willow Springs. Tickets are $5 for adults. Children under 12 are free and encouraged to wear costumes.

The orchestra, which is comprised of 30 volunteer musicians and under the direction of Houston High School band director Michael Roy, will perform “Night on Bald Mountain” by Mussorgsky, selections from “The Phantom of the Opera” by Andrew Lloyd Webber, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” by Paul Dukas and “Highlights from Harry Potter” by John Williams. The theater will be decorated, and more fun will be provided with surprise appearances by Star Dramatic Company members.

The orchestra is sponsored by the Willow Springs Arts Council and a grant from the Missouri Arts Council. To learn more about the arts council and the orchestra, visit our website at www.willowspringsartscouncil.org.
