Sales tax revenue was up in Houston during the latest monthly distribution.

Sales tax revenue collected by Houston merchants was up more than 10 percent during the latest monthly distribution — compared to the same period a year ago.

The tally from a one-cent sales tax was $52,086, an increase of $4,885 from the same monthly period a year ago. For the first 10 months of the year, $544,923 has been collected. That’s an increase of $7,286 for the year.

Retailers also collect two, quarter-cent sales taxes. Each generated $12,649, which is up about $1,200 each from a year ago.

The total from an eighth-cent sales tax for fire truck debt repayment was $6,325, which was up about $600 from a year ago.
