Houston will host its Taste of Christmas competition on Saturday, Nov. 29.

Houston’s annual Christmas tasting event — with more categories that ever before —  is Saturday.

Cooks should drop off their items at businesses by 9 a.m. Judging begins at 10 a.m. Businesses will offer prizes to the winners, who are determined by those stopping by during the day.

Winners will be selected by 2 p.m., except where businesses close early.

A bus service will run from Orscheln Farm and Home beginning at 10 a.m.

Here are the businesses and the items at that location.

Cheeseballs, Community Bank; soups, D&L Florist; cakes, Diane’s Pet Styles; bar cookies, Forbes’ Pharmacy; salsas, Holy Cross Lutheran Church; candy, Houston Herald; cupcakes, Houston Schools; brownies, Infinite Entertainment; wings, Janstiques; jerky and summer sausage, Texas County Library.

Dips, Little House Gifts; cheesecakes, Martin’s Resale Shop; decorated cupcakes, Memories and Dreams; holiday drinks, MoJo Monkey; cookies, Neal’s Sporting Goods; cobblers, New Concepts; jams/jellies, Orscheln Farm and Home; pies, Paws N Claws; banana/spice bread, Pizza Express; chili, Romines Motor Co.
