Texas County led the state early Wednesday in the fall firearms deer season.
Hunters had killed 2,017 deer in the county, a tally showed. The breakdown was: 1,045 antlered deer, 216 button bucks and 756 does.
Other top counties were: Howell, 1,963; and Oregon, 1866.
Statewide, the count was 92,580 on Wednesday morning.
