Air Evac will build new quarters at West Plains. The groundbreaking was Friday.

The Missouri Department of Economic Development says Air Medical Group Holdings, (AMGH) a leading provider of air medical services in the country, is expanding its West Plains operations.  The project includes a $1.4 million capital investment and likely will create 20 new jobs.

“I am pleased to announce that Air Medical Group Holdings is once again increasing its presence in the Show-Me State,” said Mike Downing, acting director at the Missouri Department of Economic Development. “We know that this is a great place to do business. And when companies choose Missouri again and again as the place to grow, its further proof that our workforce is highly capable and our business climate is competitive.”

AMGH is the largest independent provider of air medical services in the U.S. AMGH responds to emergencies that require air medical services in more than 66 Missouri counties. While based in Lewisville, Texas, AMGH operates in 31 states and the company’s Air Evac Lifeteam business unit is headquartered in O’Fallon following a relocation from West Plains. The company currently employs about 300 people in four separate buildings within the West Plains area. Earlier this year, it closed its Houston business office in the former Lee Co. building on Spruce Street and transferred those jobs to West Plains.

AMGH will construct a new 40,000 square foot building and consolidate most of its West Plains employees to one location.  The new facility will house the Revenue Cycle Department, Print Shop, Communications Center, and the Membership (AirMedCare Network) Division.  Air Evac Lifeteam’s air ambulance base will be relocated adjacent to the new facility as well.  The new facility will accommodate the company’s increased employment and future growth plans.

“Our West Plains team has been critical to the success of AMGH, and we’re very excited about this new location and the opportunity it presents to expand right here,” said Keith Hovey, vice president of AirMedCare Network.  “We’re committed to the community here, and we look forward to many more years of success in West Plains.”

To assist Air Medical Group Holdings with its expansion, the Missouri Department of Economic Development and the City of West Plains have authorized a strategic economic incentive package that the company can receive if it meets strict job creation and investment criteria.
