Albert Eugene Courtney, 85, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield.

He was born Dec. 18, 1927, in Raymondville, son of Ruth Hedgepeth and Claud Courtney. He and Beulah Faye Harris were married Oct. 7, 1950.

He grew up in Raymondville and graduated from Houston High in 1945. He then served three years in the Navy.

He loved woodworking and yard work. He spent most of his working career as parts manager at Honeycutt Chevrolet in Houston.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Houston for more than 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Claudia and Dealia.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah; a son, Michael; a daughter; Sandy; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Hamilton officiating. Burial was in Pine Lawn Cemetery.
