A Houston High School graduate has turned a struggling high school volleyball program into a perennial winner.
Britany Cheek guided Billings High School to its second district championship in three seasons in 2013. She has won 71 matches in her four years with the program.
Billings won eight total matches the two seasons before Cheek, a 2006 HHS graduate, arrived. She has led the team to double-digit wins in all four seasons and district titles in 2011 and ’13. Her 2012 team had a 20-4-1 record.
In this year’s district championship match, Cheek helped rally her team from a lopsided first set loss to an 11-25, 28-26, 25-23 victory for the Class 1 District 9 championship.
