Kayla Dawn Letterman, 23, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at her home in Willow Springs from a fatal seizure related to years of struggling with epilepsy.

She was born May 30, 1990, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.

She grew up in Willow Springs and graduated from Willow Springs High School in 2008. She received numerous awards and medals in Future Farmers of American. She became secretary and chapter president.

She was currently in her final semester to pursuit of a bachelor’s degree at Drury University in Cabool. She aspired to become a social worker upon completion. She worked at McDonald’s in Willow Springs since she was 16 and was a manager.

Her proudest moment was the birth of her son, Taven Shaddyx, on June 13, 2012.

Survivors include her son, Taven, and his father, Justin Frost, of Willow Springs; her father, Jimmy Letterman of Willow Springs; her mother and stepfather, Toby and John Martin of Willow Springs; a stepmother, Bobbi Whittington of Willow Springs; a brother, Andy Letterman of Willow Springs; a sister, Kendra Aldridge of Willow Springs; three brothers, Garrett Sorrell and Jonathan and Jake Martin of Willow Springs; and many other family members and friends.

Services were Saturday, Dec. 7, at Westside Family Life Center in Willow Springs with Pastor David Lovan officiating. Burial was in the Willow Springs Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home.
