Sarah Kelley, a 5-foot-11 junior center, led the Lady Tigers in scoring (14.5), rebounds (7.0) and field goal percentage (49.6) last season. She is one of four returning starters.

The Houston Lady Tigers couldn’t hang onto a late lead against Laquey.

Laquey’s Maura Skidmore scored 12 points in the final 3 minutes, 21 seconds as the Lady Hornets rallied for a 47-42 victory Tuesday night inside Hiett Gymnasium. 

Skimore scored 16 of her team’s 19 fourth-quarter points en route to a game-high 36 points. She was 10-for-11 at the foul line, including four in the final 52 seconds to seal the victory.

Sophomore Sarah Kelley scored 21 points on 10-of-18 shooting for the Lady Tigers (2-3). Shelby Cremer added eight points and four assists.

Houston led 37-33 on senior Sydney Cremer’s conventional three-point play with 4:01 remaining in the game. But Laquey quickly wiped away the advantage with a 12-1 run to go ahead by seven points. Skidmore scored six straight points during the spurt.
