Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children of South Central Missouri has selected Leigh Ann Sigman as its volunteer coordinator.

The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of South Central Missouri has named Leigh Ann Sigman as volunteer coordinator.

Sigman became a CASA volunteer in May and received her first case immediately after being sworn in. “I have a passion to help people,” she said. “Our children are the most important. I’m looking forward to working with the volunteers serving the children in Phelps and Texas counties.”

Sigman has been a medical technician for 15 years. She spent the last 12 ½ years in communications for an air medical company.

Sigman lives with her husband and the youngest two of their five children in Cabool.

“I’m excited about this opportunity and look forward to working with everyone in the CASA family,” she said.

CASA of South Central Missouri serves abused and neglected children with volunteers who are from all walks of life. Each volunteer receives 30 hours of initial training with ongoing educational opportunities. Monthly brown bag sessions provide volunteers time to share their experiences and ideas.

Fewer than 10 percent of children with a CASA volunteer re-enter the foster care system. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to speak for the safety and well being of the children.
