Sales tax revenue in Houston was up in 2013, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Sales tax collections in 2013 increased in the City of Houston, according to a report by the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The tally from a one-cent sales tax was $662,772, which is up about $12,628 from 2012 — or about 1.9 percent.

During the last monthly distribution, the total was about $59,715, which was up about $4,962 or about 9 percent from last year.

City merchants also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for streets, sidewalks and utilities. Each totaled about $160,000 for the year, which is up about $2,600 from last year.

An eighth-cent sales tax for debt repayment on a fire truck totaled $79,867 in 2013, which was up $1,295 from last year.
