Cynthia MacPherson

Gov. Jay Nixon recently appointed Cynthia O. MacPherson as associate circuit judge for Ozark County. She will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of John Jacobs.

MacPherson has operated her own private law practice in the Mountain Grove area since 1980, and has argued cases in front of the Missouri Court of Appeals and the Missouri Supreme Court. She also served as prosecuting attorney for Wright County from 1983 to 1990.

In January 1977, MacPherson became the first woman to serve as an elected county prosecuting attorney in Missouri when she became prosecutor for Audrain County. She obtained both her law degree and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri.

“Cynthia MacPherson has more than three decades of legal experience, both as a private attorney and as a prosecutor,” Gov. Nixon said. “I am pleased to have her put those legal skills to use on the associate circuit bench.”
