HHS basketball

The Houston Tigers’ offense struggled in the conference opener.

HHS was held to single digits in three different quarters and had a season-worst point total in a 44-36 Friday night to Ava.

Devin Coulter scored a team-high 18 points as the lone Houston player in double figures. The Tigers (5-7, 0-1 South Central Association) trailed 23-16 at halftime. 

Houston’s previous low point total was 39 points in a one-point victory Dec. 5 against Mansfield.

JUNIOR VARSITY: Kobe Sutton scored 13 of his team-best 15 points in the second half of the JV Tigers’ 49-34 loss Friday to Ava.

Skylur Malam hit two 3-pointers and added seven points for the Tigers, who trailed 23-12 at the half.
