The following reports were generated last week by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department.
•A 51-year-old Bucyrus woman reported on Jan. 25 that a car had been stolen from her Crane Drive residence.
An investigating deputy followed tracks leading toward Highway E from where the woman said the car – a Mazda sedan – had been parked. Near Highway E and U.S. 63, the officer observed a full size Chevrolet Blazer towing a trailer with a car on it matching the description of the stolen car. A traffic stop was initiated and a 38-year-old Houston man was arrested.
A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking multiple charges against the man. Two minor children were with him at the time of his arrest. His wife came and picked them up.
•Terry W. White, 30, of 16464 Forrest Drive in Houston, was issued a citation for misuse of 911 on Feb. 23 at about 9:45 p.m. White was cited after allegedly calling 911 four times in a non-emergency situation.
A deputy had gone to White’s home for the same reason twice the night before. The first time White claimed to have dialed the wrong number. The second time he said he didn’t mean to dial 911, and was warned he would be cited if it happened again.
•Deputies were dispatched at about 6:15 p.m. Feb. 7 regarding a domestic dispute at Roby.
An investigating officer reported deputies were advised to meet a 29-year-old woman at Walt’s store. The woman told officers she had gone to the Roby Road residence where she and her 54-year-old boyfriend lived to remove some of her belongings, and the man had pointed a gun at her and told her to leave immediately or he would shoot. Officers made contact with the man, who admitted pulling on gun on the woman, but claimed he had done so because he thought someone was breaking in and that he had stopped pointing the weapon at her when he recognized her.
A report about the incident was sent to the county prosecutor.
•On Feb. 22 at about 1 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to a U.S. 60 location to assist Cabool police with a traffic stop. A Cabool officer arrested the driver for DWI.
•A deputy investigated a report of a horse killed Feb. 23 at a Highway W property at Summersville.
The 62-year-old man who owned the animal took the officer to the location of the carcass and the officer observed what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the neck. The owner named his former son-in-law as a suspect. He stated his daughter and grandchild were moving to Louisiana, and that the suspect likely had shot the horse in retaliation.
The horse owner also stated that the suspect had shot a mule in the past, and that every time an issue regarding custody or visitation came up, something would happen to some of his property. The matter is still under investigation.
•A woman called on Feb. 14 to report that some of her child’s toys were missing from their Ware Road residence. An investigating officer went to the residence three times, but was unable to make contact with the woman.
•Deputies were dispatched at about 7 p.m. Feb. 22 regarding a fight at a Country Aire Lane trailer park at Cabool. The two roommates involved were advised to work out their differences or separate.
•Deputies were dispatched at about 12:10 a.m. Feb. 15 regarding a report of woman with a knife knocking on doors and asking for help on Highway C at Licking. A neighbor told officers where the woman lived and they made contact with her. She then stated she was drunk and seeing things, but didn’t need an ambulance.
Officers advised her to go to bed, and she said she would.
