Charles Glen Kennedy, 79, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at his home near Mountain Grove.

He was born July 23, 1934, in Douglas County, son of Joseph Daniel and Perly Mae Freeman Kennedy. He and Virginia Reed were married Sept. 10, 1956, in Mountain Grove.

He moved with his family to Texas County when he was five. He attended the Walnut Grove School. He and his wife, Virginia, raised their family for more than 57 years east of Mountain Grove.

He was a bus driver for Mountain Grove Schools and accident free for more than 33 years. He enjoyed being outdoors, riding his four-wheeler, camping, fishing, hunting, and earlier in life, cutting wood. He also liked piddling in his shop and working on cars.

He was saved at a young age and was a member of the Mountain Grove Full Gospel Church.

He enjoyed attending services as long as his health permitted.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Edward Glen “Buddy” Kennedy; two brothers, Roy Nelson Kennedy and Edward Fletcher Kennedy; and an infant sister.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia of the home; a son, Paul Kennedy of Vanzant; a daughter, Glenda Kentner of West Plains; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Mountain Grove Full Gospel Church with Pastor Bob Miller officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
