Texas County Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) will conduct a meeting at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at Texas County Justice Center in Houston.
Based within a community or geographic area, COAD groups are comprised of representatives from public, private and not-for profit agencies. The local COAD will be a collaborative working group in which all the participants are equal partners united by common goals of planning short term and long term recovery goals to prepare in the event of a disaster, organizer said.
COADs include various agencies that play a role in any phase of emergency management, including disaster services agencies, emergency management agencies, and public, private, not-for-profit or faith-based organizations with an interest in addressing a community’s emergency management needs.
Warren Mercurio, emergency services director for the south-central Missouri region, will speak about the importance of COADs and their role in the event of a disaster.
RSVP to Texas County COAD Chair Bennie Cook by Feb. 25 at firstname.lastname@example.org. The meeting should last less than 45 minutes.
