Houston police handled several investigations in the last week.

Three people were issued citations following an incident Jan. 24 at a Cleveland Road residence in Houston.

An investigation began after a 21-year-old woman reported a burglary had taken place at the home where she and her boyfriend reside. The woman told responding officers that a 55-inch TV and an entertainment center had been swiped from the living room and a crib had been taken from a bedroom and left in the front yard.

The woman told officers she and her boyfriend had purchased the goods from a man, and her boyfriend stated they had fallen behind on payments. The man who had sold the gear to the pair reportedly put three men on a mission to repossess the goods, and the group ended up being cited for second-degree trespassing. Cited were Kyle A. Koch, 19, of 10913 Bell Road in Success; Shawn M. Patton, 19, of 318 Chestnut St. in Houston; and Kodey L. Campbell, 20, of 8148 Morton Road in Houston. Koch was also cited for second-degree property damage, after kicking in a closed bedroom door where the crib was.

The reporting officer stated the trio was allowed to return the TV and entertainment center without being cited for stealing, because they had acted in good faith believing the items belonged to the man who hired them, authorities said.

Also last week, Houston police reported the following:

•Brandon G. Cross, 28, of 905 Hiett St. in Houston, was issued a citation for driving while revoked after a 12:15 p.m. Feb. 4 traffic stop on Grand Avenue.

•James W. Arnold, 27, of 16068 Mellow Drive at Cabool, was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia at about 12:55 a.m. Feb. 4.

Officers observed a man walking on First Street and asked if he needed assistance. The man appeared nervous and then became belligerent.

A routine computer check revealed the man – Arnold – had an active Franklin County warrant for possession of a controlled substance. He was placed under arrest, and a subsequent search revealed a metal object in his pocket containing a substance that looked and smelled like burnt marijuana.

Arnold was cited and taken to the Texas County Jail to await extradition to Franklin County.

•Rhonda E. Richards, 58, of 9826 Crane Drive at Bucyrus, was issued a citation after allegedly stealing an employee’s glasses from the service desk on Jan. 28 at the Houston Walmart.

Surveillance video reportedly shows Richards placing the glasses in her pocket as she left the store. Police called her on Jan. 29 and asked her to come to the police department. During an interview, she claimed she thought the glasses were hers until she got home. She turned them over to police.
