Military veteran

John Wesley Tyree, 50, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Columbia Veteran’s Hospital.

He was born Sept. 9, 1963, in Jefferson City, son of Charles and Edna Branson Tyree.

He grew up in the Belle and Bland areas. He served 23 years between the Army and National Guard. He went to work as a civilian employee with the 35th Engineer Battalion, teaching the Army Bridging Academy.

He was preceded in death by his mother; a brother, Darrell Tyree; and a step-brother, Jimmie Bever.

Survivors include his wife, Nida of Licking; three children, Elizabeth Tyree, Evelyn Tyree and John W. Tyree of Licking; two grandchildren; his father and step-mother, Charles and Erma Tyree of Houston; three siblings, Ronald Tyree, Don Tyree and Janis Fleming; five half-brothers and half-sisters, Edward Crider, Michael Crider, Adatha Davis, Pamela Mitchell and Douglas Crider; a stepsister Sharella Bever; a stepbrother, Eldon Bever; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services for were Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Miller officiating. Burial was in Skaggs Cemetery near Belle.
