The fourth annual benefit concert and silent auction for listener-supported community radio station KZGM 88.1 FM in Cabool is noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, at the Yellow House Community Arts Center (209 Trish Knight Blvd. in West Plains).
“Di Munchie Gras” is like Mardi Gras, only on Sunday – and yes, it is ‘Dimanche’ in proper French, really,” said Kazie Perkins, a director at KZGM.
The event will indeed feature various munchies, including chili, cornbread and desserts and drinks. There will also be live music played by local musicians.
“Everyone there will also have an opportunity to try the traditional Di Munchie Gras crawfish chili,” Perkins said. Volunteer silent auction coordinator Barbara Leary said this fundraiser party is a fun event for a fine cause.
“This is your chance to clear your house of good quality items by contributing them for the auction,” Leary said.
Items for the auction may be left on the porch of the Yellow House, or at Ann-Tiques, on East Main St. in Willow Springs, Sunshine Market in Mountain View or the KZ88 studio at 1211 Ozark St. in Cabool.
Admission is a $10 donation at the door.
“This is our fifth year as of April 15, 2014,” Perkins said. “We are an all-volunteer, non-commercial, non-profit station. Our motto is ‘Inform, educate and entertain’ and we are doing a bang-up job of it!
“This year we added live broadcasts of the Cabool girls’ softball season and the boys’ baseball season that has been very well received, and a ton of fun. Hopefully we can and will continue to expand coverage of our community events. Many thanks to our supporters and volunteers. Our volunteers have done a wonderful job making truly listener-supported KZ88 a very special independent media voice.
“We hope to see everybody coming out to support KZ88.”
The station will broadcast a special program on the day of the event, with Steve Forsythe and Jim Ellswort playing music and providing reports from the Yellow House.
