Marvell Dean Daniel, 76, son of Marvin and Mildred (McNew) Daniel, was born Dec. 30, 1937, in Houston, Mo. He passed away Feb. 22, 2014, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Mo.
Dean grew up on a farm just outside of Houston and attended school in Houston, graduating from Houston High School in 1955.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He married Elaine Roderick in 1955 and to that union five children were born. They divorced in 1968. He married Carolyn Sillyman in 2010. Dean is survived by his wife Carolyn; his children, Robert Daniel and wife, Veronica, of Clemons, Iowa, Ronald Daniel of Marshalltown, Iowa, Randall Daniel and wife, Kim, of Beaman, Iowa, Patricia Baily of Nashville, Tenn., and Donald Daniel of Beaman, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Amy, Bryan, Cortney, Rebecka, Jason, Michael and James; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Daniel and wife, Ella, of Houston, Mo., and Jerry Daniel of Columbia, Mo.; two sisters, Marilyn Back and husband, Dean, of Cedar Park, Texas, and Delores Nevarez and husband, Henry, of Oceanside, Calif.; and Carolyn’s children, Steven Sillyman and wife, Coleen, of Grand Junction, Iowa, Darrell Sillyman and wife, Deana, and Brian Sillyman and wife, Cindy, all of Houston, Mo.; and numerous other family members who he loved very much.
Dean worked for Fisher Controls, running a turret lathe for more than 20 years. He retired in 1996.
Dean’s first passion was farming, but he also loved to travel. He and Carolyn would jump in the car or the motorcycle and head to see the beautiful country. They visited many states. You could also find him and Carolyn at the Barn, dancing the night away. He was always looking to have a good time! Dean was quite the jokester, he had a gift to make people laugh and make them feel loved. He also was a wonderful cook and always enjoyed to have neighbors and friends come join them for a meal and fellowship.
He was a family man, he was happiest when he was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren or friends. There will be a huge void in all the lives that he touched and the many that loved him.
