The conclusion of the season means the ends of the careers of the Houston Lady Tigers’ two seniors.
The team recognized Sydney Cremer and Kaylea Preheim last Wednesday night following the duos final home game inside Hiett Gymnasium. The Lady Tigers lost 47-32 to Hartville.
Cremer and Preheim were honored alongside their parents afterwards. Cremer scored four points in her final home game and Preheim had two.
“Kaylea and Sydney have been in our program all the way up,” Lady Tigers coach Brent Kell said. “Both girls are not only good girls but very smart, and I know they will have success in what ever they decide to do. We will miss having them around next year. We wish them a great deal of luck with their futures.”
The game was the first of three straight as the team made up contests previously postponed by inclement weather.
On Thursday, HHS got off to a slow start in a 53-39 defeat at Plato. Sarah Kelley paced the team with 15 points.
The following night, the Lady Tigers nearly rallied from a double-digit deficit before losing 55-51 at Thayer. Kelley scored a team-best 20 points and Kylee Elmore added 12.
On Monday, Kelley had 18 points in the Lady Tigers’ 59-46 loss at Liberty.
Houston (7-15, 1-5 South Central Association) has lost six consecutive games entering the regular-season finale Thursday at Cabool. The Lady Tigers open district play at 5:30 p.m. Saturday against Alton at Cabool High School.
