Military veteran

Ronald Wayne Shriver, 59, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at his home in Sunrise Beach.

He was born June 22, 1954, in Kansas City, son of Arthur Ralph and Rosa Faye Cook. He married Judy Herndon.

He grew up in the Tyrone area and graduated from Summersville High School in 1972. He lived in Willow Springs for several years before moving to the Lake Ozark area to be near his family for health reasons.

He served in the Marines from Jan. 15, 1976 to Dec. 13, 1979. He then re-enlisted and served until 1983.

Music was a big part of his life. He loved playing the piano, the guitar and singing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Ralph Shriver.

Survivors include his son, Travis Shriver of Versailles; his daughter, Desirea Shriver of Sunrise Beach; his mother, Rosa Collins of Tunas; a brother, Jim Shriver of Tunas; a sister, Brenda Dampier of Tunas; a half sister, Opal Miller of Springfield; five grandchildren; and a host of other family members.

Services were Saturday, Feb. 15, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Spacek officiating. Burial with military honors were in Nagle Cemetery.
