Revenue from a one-cent sales tax collected in Houston was up about 6 percent in the first month of 2014 compared to the prior year, the Missouri Department of Revenue reports.
The total was $58,820, which was up $3,318 from the same period a year ago.
The tally from a quarter-cent sales tax earmarked for streets and sidewalks totaled $13,726, which was up $337. Another quarter-cent sales tax for utilities generated the same amount.
An eighth-cent sales tax for debt retirement on a fire truck totaled $6,863.Â
