The following reports were generated last week by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department.
•A Cabool woman called on March 22 to report that neighbor boys had stolen a basketball goal from her Barry Road residence. The woman later told an investigating officer there had been a misunderstanding and her husband had actually given the goal to the boys.
•A 54-year-old Raymondville man was arrested March 29 after allegedly assaulting a 52-year-old woman at their Highway 137 residence. A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor.
•A deputy made contact with a Cabool woman on March 22 after the woman reported her mother was stealing things from her father’s Highway U residence while he was in the hospital. The officer advised the woman that as long as her mother and father were married, it wasn’t stealing.
The officer noted that he had previous contact with the father who had stated it was OK for his wife to take what she wanted, but his daughter was not allowed at the residence.
•A deputy responded at about 3:30 a.m. March 24 to a Highway 17 residence regarding a report of suspicious activity.
Upon arrival, the officer observed a woman sleeping in a vehicle in a ditch. The woman was taken to the Texas County Jail for safekeeping, and corrections officers there found a syringe in her pocket that tested positive for methamphetamine. A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking drug charges against the woman.
•An anonymous caller reported on March 28 that a 26-year-old woman was yelling at people and making rude comments and general threats at a Shaffer Road trailer park in Licking. A deputy made contact with the woman and advised her she would be cited for peace disturbance if another call was received about her behavior.
•Bob A. Hamby, 57, of 12770 Shaffer Road, Lot 16, in Licking, was issued a citation for animal abuse on March 29 after dogs he owns were reportedly harassing people near his residence. An investigating officer stated Hamby had been previously warned to maintain control of the dogs, and that the animals displayed aggressive behavior toward him when he got out of his patrol car.
•Cassandra A. Boyle, 24, of 17100 Tiffany Drive, Lot 1, in Houston, was issued a citation for second-degree property damage on March 28 after allegedly kicking in a screen door at she and her grandmother’s residence during an argument. The grandmother told an investigating officer Boyle had become angry when she was told to take her children and leave.
•A Mountain Grove man called on March 27 to report suspicious activity at an abandoned house at the corner of Polk Road and King Street. The man told an investigating officer he suspected people might have been cooking meth at the location.
The officer stated no evidence was found to indicate illegal activity.
•A deputy was dispatched at about 10 a.m. March 28 regarding a report of a possible suicidal woman at a Highway 32 residence at Licking. The officer determined that the 43-year-old woman did show signs of emotional distress, but gave no indication of wanting to harm herself or others.
The woman allowed her home to be searched for weapons, and none were found.
•A 40-year-old Licking man came to the TCSD office on March 27 and reported that a Stihl 250 valued at $349 chainsaw had been stolen from the porch of his Prescott Road residence on or around Feb. 20.
•A woman representing a Licking Realtor came to the TCSD office on March 27 to report that a house she manages for an owner who lives in Alaska had been broken into and that the resulting damage and theft amounted to about $10,000. The woman stated that swiped items included a washing machine, dryer and dishwasher, and that the house had been broken into before.
There are no suspects.
•A woman called on March 27 to report that an elderly man walks each morning near her Mercer Lane residence and makes an obscene gesture when her kids are in the car with her. An officer advised the woman to call again the next time she saw the man walking.
