Dr. Glen G. Schuster, 92, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in Temecula, Calif., with family by his side.

Glen was born March 9, 1921, in Thayer, Mo., the son of Fred H. and Ann Blanche Schuster. He was preceded in death by his brother, Olenthus Schuster, and his parents.

Glen graduated from Thayer High School and was accepted at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to study mathematics and engineering; but opted to accept a scholarship to play basketball at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo., due to the cost of MIT. Glen obtained a B.S. Degree from University of Missouri and a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Dr. Schuster opened his dental practice in Houston, Mo., in April of 1957 and served the citizens of Houston and surrounding communities for over 50 years. Glen made it his life mission to tell his young patients about the value of a college education. He tried to inspire the youth of Houston in believing that anything was possible through hard work and a good college education. Dr. Schuster considered it a great honor and privilege to be a founding member of the Texas County PWSD #3 board of directors.

Glen’s other passions were breeding Airedale Terrier dogs and American Saddlebred horses. Glen’s championship bloodlines for both his horses and dogs were known worldwide and resulted in buyers traveling to Houston, Mo., from different parts of the world.

Glen is survived by his daughters and four grandchildren, Cory and Kenzie Scheets, Zachary King and Jenna Eckstein.

A private memorial service will be held in Thayer, Mo. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Houston United Methodist Church, 422 Hawthorn Street, Houston, Mo., 65483.
