Revenue from the City of Houston’s main sales tax dropped about 3 percent from the same period a year ago.
The total from a one-cent sales tax was $54,059, which is down $1,671 from a year ago. For the year, $112,878 has been collected. That’s up $1,647 in 2014.
City merchants also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for sidewalk, street and utility work. Each contributed about $12,534.
An eighth-cent sales tax netted $6,267 toward debt retirement on a fire truck.Â
