Military veteran

James Simon Rumfelt, 60, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014, while at Willow Care Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

He was born June 17, 1953, in Mount Vernon, son of Orrin E. and Trula A. Wirtmiller Rumfelt. He and Christie Sue Gill were married Jan. 24, 1980.

He grew up in Plato, where he attended the local school. As a young teenager, he accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized into the Plato Baptist Church.

He joined the Navy and served his country during the Vietnam War. After his discharge, he worked for many years as a mechanic and farm laborer.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth Kaye.

Survivors include a daughter, Jamie Mae Jung of Cache, Okla.; a brother, Arles Orrin Rumfelt of Norwood; four sisters, Audrey Mae Barnhart of Houston, Shirley Faye Seabaugh of Florissant and Leta Ethel Massey and Trula Alice McGuire of Huggins; two grandsons; a granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arrangements were under the direction of Willow Funeral Home.
