The following reports were generated last week by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 11:20 a.m. March 2 regarding a report of several small dogs running loose and harassing people at a Shafer Road trailer park at Licking.

The officer made contact with the 57-year-old man who owns the dogs and gave him a verbal warning. The man stated he was in the process of building a fence to contain the animals. He was advised he would be cited if there was another similar incident.

•A 67-year-old Winona man called at about 2 p.m. March 2 to report that numerous farm implements had been stolen from a 75-year-old man’s Curran Road property at Willow Springs.

Items reportedly swiped had a total value of $30,602 and included a 40-foot reefer box valued at $10,000, a 40-foot flatbed trailer valued at $8,000, a squeeze chute valued at $3,500 and metal hog hutches valued at $8,002. There are no suspects.

•A 78-year-old Raymondville woman called on March 2 to provide information about several drug deals that have taken place in Texas County. Her statement is under investigation.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 12:10 a.m. Feb. 28 regarding a report of a vehicle sitting in the middle of Highway AM near Mountain Grove. The officer made contact with the vehicle’s owner, who stated he had run out of gas and requested that the officer call a towing company.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 9:45 p.m. March 1 regarding a report of a prowler at a Piney Drive residence at Houston.

The officer made contact with the man who lives there and he stated an intoxicated man was beating on his door who didn’t know where he was. The officer took the intoxicated man to jail for safekeeping.

•A deputy was dispatched on Feb. 27 regarding a burglary at a Roby Road residence at Plato.

A 58-year-old woman who owns the home told the officer that it had been vacant for about three months. She said that nothing appeared to be missing, but numerous items were damaged, including furniture, kitchenware, electronics, windows and doors. The damage was estimated at $2,134.

The matter is under investigation.

•On Feb. 22, an officer investigated numerous reports of damaged mailboxes on Little Creek Road and Nevill Road at Mountain Grove.

The officer observed about 20 mailboxes had been destroyed, possibly by a baseball bat or similar object. A man who had his mailbox destroyed told the officer it’s a regular occurrence in the area.

The officer had reason to believe kids were responsible and contacted the Cabool and Mountain Grove police departments so they could make school officials aware. The officer reported that on March 1, another complaint of mailbox damage was received from the same area.

•On Feb. 25, the Boone County Sheriff’s Department requested assistance with finding a 30-year-old Cabool woman who might be linked to a December 2012 burglary case that agency is working on. Boone authorities indicated a glove had been found at the crime scene and DNA tested matched that of the woman.

A deputy located the woman at her Oriole Road residence and interviewed her. The matter is still under investigation.

•A 30-year-old Houston man who was incarcerated at the Texas County Jail for misuse of 911 told an officer he hears voices in his head. The officer noted that the same man has told him the same thing before and had been arrested three times in the 72 hours.

The officer also stated the man has in the past claimed to not be well while he was in jail, and then after accepting help and being checked into a medical facility, he checks out after the threat of jail time has passed. The man was taken to Ozark Medical Center in West Plains on a detainer for a 96-hour evaluation period.

•Bennie L. Thompson Sr., 44, of Houston, was issued a citation for third-degree assault on Feb. 26 for allegedly punching another inmate while incarcerated at the Texas County Jail.
